>>>>>>>I like and respect you, bear in mind. It's just that questioning a parent's commitment, even unintentionally, is over the line.

>>>>>>No it isn't. Letting teachers and the gub-mint) take the blame because little Johnny grew up to be a drug dealer or a gang banger or just an illiterate schmuck while giving the parents a free pass is a load.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>I've met parents who are far too busy complaining about everything and everyone else to try to teach their kids anything (academics, morals, etc). They expect the gub-mint to do it. Of course, they aren't too busy to pop out some more kids for the gub-mint to take care of.

>>>Mike, I don't think it's anger. I think it's frustration, because I feel frustrated over the condition of our country too. There will have to be a change, if we are to continue to exist.

>>I am not too worried about our continued existence. Yes, we have some problems. But there are an awful lot of countries who would love to trade places with us.

>>What some seem to have forgotten about the past they remember so fondly is it was a great place to be a white male. It wasn't a great place to be black. It wasn't a great place to be a woman. Some things have gotten better.

>True, it wasn't utopia. And what many, particularly on the left, have forgotten, is that not ALL white people are rich. My family came from the farm, where they worked in the fields - sharecropping. The only difference between them and the blacks, was they could use the white restroom and drink from the white fountain. Otherwise, they were just white trash. Even today, many whites still have issues like not being able to get a job or a loan, simply because they are white and they are paying for the sins of the aristocracy. Another popular myth is that all whites in the south were slave owners. Duh, my relatives were closer to being slaves.

You may be stereotyping me here. I was not born rich. Part of my family was white trash. My father never never knew his father beyond who he was.
