Craig says an MS employee says it is not true. But the article quotes a respected MVP, and confirmation from another, anonymous, MVP. So we'll see.

But you've gotta give MS props for trying, if it's true. The most recent version of Python Tools for Visual Studio supports by native Python, and IronPython. And it's Open Source. They're trying.
