Microsoft has perception issues with VB as more and more developers use C# over VB, and that Microsoft has never done well at keeping the perception of each on an equal level.
I think if Microsoft were to ever decide to kill or give VB away, Bill Gates would come to the campus and personally kick Steve Ballmer's ass, which BTW, I would pay to see. :)
