>iPhone what, though? ;-) Maybe Android will overtake it but the market leader now is clear.

Sorry, iPhone is already walking the plank because Steve Jobs never learns from his mistakes.

1) 20+ years ago, Windows dominated because of it's openness, not because of technical superiority. Instead of making the iPhone available everywhere (read open), Steve stuck with AT&T for years thereby creating a huge void for Android to fill on competing networks (Verizon, Sprint, etc.). That you can buy an iPhone on Verizon now is moot. Long term advantage: Android

2) The iTunes app store is a closed ecosystem. This is ultimately bad for the consumer. The Android marketplace is open - see Amazon's replacement/supplemental Android marketplace as proof. This is good for the consumer. Long term advantage: Android

3) Android can be licensed by just about any manufacturer and thus, Apple is not competing against one manufacturer, but many (HTC, Samsung, Motorola, etc.) Long term advantage: Android.

I equate the iPhone ecosystem to a Socialist system where "big brother" attempts to control everything. This always ultimately fails. The Android ecosystem is open and driven by more capitalistic principals and will be the big, big winner.

If I owned Apple stock I'd be looking for an exit door in the next few years.
