Just for future ref and lurkers

you can generally go into your router's admin using 192.168.1.1 ( or whatever your router uses) and then to the DHCP admin where you can check IP addresses and reassign, refresh etc.

>>>I have a handful of computers (3) hooked up to a router (3 or XP Pro boxes), and one is a Win 7 box - no connection to each other, just to the router for internet access.
>>>
>>>Anyway, the Windows 7 will no longer connect and reports a IP address conflict. Anyone know how to have this Win 7 computer to reset its IP address to fix this issue?
>>>
>>>For whatever reason, IPCONFIG /release will not work as it reports it is not connected to the lan, which is true as it has an ip confilict.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
