>>Mobile phones are not mini-desktops. They are not designed to be replacements for all that you want or think that they should be. They are designed to do somethings well, like make phone calls. anything on top of that is a bonus.

Yes and no, John
This winter my furnace acted up so I called an 800 number and within a few mintues I got a call from a tech in the area saying he'd be at my house in 10 minutes.
He arrived with a smartphone and a tool box.
He had some problems so he punched in some numbers on the phone and got the information he needed from some kind of database somewhere.
After fixing the problem, he punched my credit card number into the phone to make payment.
Meanwhile, he got a message on the phone dispatching him to his next call, including a map and a description of the problem.
He pushed some buttons that would let the dispatcher know when he'd be leaving to make that call.

I asked him how he operated before he got that phone, and he said he couldn't imagine life without it.

I think the key word is MOBILE. If the user is on the move as was this tech, they have terrific power- but for a comparatively stationary user, as most users are in today's world, the big screen and big keyboard will be hard to replace I think.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
