>But you buy 500,000 android activations per day...

I wish I had that kind of money...

Seriously, where did I say that? or even, who said that? As far as I can remember John Ryan said that it will reach 500K activations per day, and it is just his or his sources predictions, and I think he refers to IDC and Gartner (yeah, I see the irony, but again, it was not me who mentioned this, and you can Google it and find multiple links that more or less say the same thing):

Gartner (April 2011) estimates that 468 million will be sold in 2011, that’s a 57.7 percent increase from 2010. Of those phones, 38.5 percent will be powered by the Android operating system. By 2015, 631 million smartphones will be sold, approaching half of those will be Android.
IDC (March 2011) estimates that 450 million will be sold in 2011, that’s a 49.2 percent increase from 2010. Of those phones, 39.5 percent will be powered by the Android operating system.

So, 38.5% of 468 million is 18 million and something, divided by 365 days gives you that near 500K estimate (same with IDC 39.5% of 450M is 17.7 million), now I know that there is a difference between sales and activations but at least is much better than saying that he has insider information, knowledge and experience (which of course none of us, typing monkeys, can have as this is the type of things that are reserved for the PA crew, and I fully disclose that I have no insider information whatsoever, my knowledge is limited to turning my phone on and off and sometimes I get even confused with which button I should use and whatever experience I might have is always defeated by poor memory, I am talking mainly about other posters here)
