Which specific programs would you eliminate or cut back?

Actually, I would phase out medicare and Social Security. And my plan woul be more radical than Paul Ryan's plan. If you are over 60, you are grandfathered in because you do not have enough time to provide for your own retirement. If you are 55 - 59, you can count on collecting 75% of what your benefits would be (and I fall into that category but I would be wiling to give up 25% of my so-called entitlement to save the country from going over a cliff). 50-54 you would collect 50%. 45 - 49 you would collect 25%. Under 45, you are SOL and have to find a way to provide for your own retiement. You have at least 20 years to do so and probably longer sine life expectancy has risen so dramatically.

I would also eliminate most foreign aid - giving other countries money that we have to borrow makes no sense.

I would also get out of Iraq, Afghanistan and Lybia.

I would also reduce the number of weeks that one can get unemployment benefits from the current 99 weeks.

I would also eliminate all subsidies - subsidies for oil, agriculture, ethenol, etc. etc. The government should not be picking winners and losers in the private sector.

I am sure that you disagree with all of these measure except for getting out of our current foreign wars.
