>>Well said. MS has been giving John who knows how much assistance and that colors his remarks, without disclosure.

>>iPhone what, though? ;-) Maybe Android will overtake it but the market leader now is clear.

>Oh really?
http://www.scottlogic.co.uk/blog/colin/2011/04/gartner-predicts-a-promising-future-for-windows-phone-7-developers/There is no basis for this prediction other than the Nokia deal with Microsoft. Windows Phones are not selling well, and it's not helping that people in AT&T and Verizon retail stores are not pushing them to customers versus Androids and iPhones. While the UI (codename Metro) is different for WinPhones, there is no evidence it's what a mass phone user audience wants in a smartphone, and it's very consumer focused especially or people who are active with social media. Nokia has a great brand and makes great hardware, but people now select a smartphone based on the platform and the ecosystem more than the hardware manufacturer.
Microsoft is losing market share in the mobile phone space monthly, and until that reverses, I can't see how any prediction like this can be justified beyond a wild random guess or wishful thinking. The main thing to talk about relative to WinPhone is the battle for 3rd place between Microsoft, HP, and Blackberry.
