It seems certain that he was in the process of shooting an advert but the truth of the kicks is not known for sure. A Google search finds many references to this video, most of which end up on a page like this one:

Similarly to the person commenting at the bottom of the above article, I am not interested in Beckham, soccer or the validity of the clip. I just enjoyed watching it.
