Why should I help bad employers pay rubbish wages because they know the government will subsidise those workers.

Again, I have no idea what you are talkign about. I realize (having worked in the food service industry to work my way through college) that bartenders and waitresses get paid extremely low wages, but do you really think that they should be paid the same hourly wage as I am getting as a developer? Sometimes they are not bad employers. They are just paying uneducated and unskilled employees for doing meial jobs that one day will be done by a machine.

In a healthy economy bad employers will rightly go bust because they cannot afford decent rates of pay and so cannot find staff.

IMHO, this is the same philosophy that caused England's and Detroit's automobile manufacturing industry to go under.
