Geez, the "writing on the wall" has been there for sometime. Most development will be done in Javascript/HTML 5 on the client side and only use the backend .NET or whatever when needed. Javascript/HTML 5 is where developers should focus anyway. This is also great for developers because the skills become transferable to any platform. MS has fought this and will probably still try to lock in in some way but to me this is a good development.
