I have seen several presentations by high level Microsoft managers in the past few months and they have all said the same thing: Silverlight is not going away and will not be supplanted by HTML5. Mads Kristensen, a Program Manager on the Web Platform and Tools team (near the top of the HTML5 heap), and Jay Schmelzer, a Group Program Manager on the VS team, were among them.
