I'm not a MAPI expert, but I sure don't see any calls in there that cause connect and download. I know there are no calls that I make to do it. It just happens. All I can suggest is you look at the registry entries I posted and see if anything pops out as a significant difference. I have OE configured as both the Default Email client and the default Simple MAPI client those are both on the first page of the Options dialog.

>Are you sure the Mapi OCX can't download mail off a server? Before I loaded Outlook Express the previous versions downloaded and uploaded. Maybe I just don't have the settings right.
