Seems to me we're simply trying to blame others for faults of our own people. Considering the profit margins of such an illegal business it's obviously never going away - so a) make it legal and shut down the revenue stream to the criminals and b) deal with the drug problem here as a health issue not a criminal one. This has worked everywhere else it's been tried.
