I have warned some of my Boglehead friends who invest in index funds to take into consideration that soon some of the major indexes are being calculated with the assistance of a guy in Brecksville, OH sitting around in his underwear looking out his home-office window at the deer eating his landscaping.

Truly a strange and wonderful job and they are being very accommodating about working remotely and not making me move to New Jersey ( though actually the area around Princeton looks and feels very much like where I live in Ohio.. I only wish my home were this close to NYC <g>)

>>I started this week on a very very nice consulting gig at Dow Jones Indexes. Nice people, a beautiful work environment and some very challenging technical issues. ( this is where the DJIA and about 1000 other index products are created )

>>Working 10 hour days and scheduled for 7 day weeks so far, but if I get a break or you can come up in the evening for decaf and Hamilton is that close I'd love to get together.

>>>What are you doing in Princeton, Charles?
>>>
>>>You're about 15 minutes from Hamilton.

>>>Next time, let me know and I'll buy you a cup of NJ coffee.

>>>>>As I read this I'm sitting a hotel in Princeton, NJ on a free iBahn internet connecition ( about a tenth the speed of my ATT Uverse at home ) watching Sunday night's episode of HBOs Game of Thrones ( god I *love* it) on HBO Go. Amazed at how good the picture is ( though not as good as the HD uality on a faster connection ) Last night watched five episodes of Sons of Anarchy on Netflix streaming. They must be making great strides with this compression technology as it seems net video just gets better and better.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
