Well it would have been a little less provocative if you had just said liberals. So here's the generally held view of Conservatives to which you may add all Republicans if you like:
Conservatives ideal is less government, less intervention - "God is on our side" kind of thinking - iow, things will magically take care of themselves. They apply this to the Free Market economy, gun control, etc. In history, it was used to justify "Manifest Destiny" (wiping out the Am. Indian) in the US along with slavery and now Gun Rights where somehow gun ownership has become a "god-given" right. The new buzzword that characterizes all this is american "exceptionalism". They will make this an excuse for destroying the environment and denying the poor a fair shot at the american dream. ( btw, big business loves this sort of thinking because it gives them free reign to do whatever they want.)
