With your liberal bias, my guess would be no, no military service at all, so you're another like the rest of the libs here.... Living off the sweat equity of others.... and creating hate and discontent where you can...

>>>Yep. That's me alright - one of the "rest of the libs here". I work for a living. I have always worked for a living - at whatever jobs I could get. As far as I can tell, I have never lived off the sweat equity of others (but, of course, I could be wrong), and as far as spreading hate and discontent, I work very hard not to do so, but I have to take my hat off to you as a master of the art.

>>I guess I didn't phrase my point well enough. My message was to those who bring the military into it and bash them or make critical remarks of them that have never served a day in their lives, but enjoy the fruits of an America kept free and safe by those who served and who risked their lives. I have never seen you criticize our military or those who serve in it.... so the message doesn't apply to you... It applies to those like Grover and Mike and a few others here...

>I will break my rule just this once and reply to a message after saying I'm out of it. Here's my take on the story that started this. The school's policy is silly. Now, I can sort of understand their wanting everyone to conform to a particular mode of dress during graduation, but I've never really been big on so much conformity - especially when I imagine the valedictory speech probably had something in it about being different and creative and being your own person. But, having said that, and in spite of my belief that the policy is dumb, if the policy is applied without exception, and the admin wasn't singling her out, then I guess the school has a point and wouldn't want to make an exception for her just because it was about a military uniform. My hat is off to her for doing what she's doing, and if she were here, I'd shake her hand, but I earnestly hope she doesn't find herself being shot at or having to actually kill someone in some far off land at the age of 17. At 17 we all believed in our invulnerability, but we were wrong.

And that sir, is why my previous post doesn't apply to you...
