Hi kevin
thanks for that.
At the moment the client is trying to make their minds about a number of issues and switching from Crystal to SSRS is one.
Whats your opinion on the comparison of the two (this is SQL2005 at the moment but switching to 2008 is also one of the decisions) First, a question....is your client using reports in a Winforms/desktop environment or largely in a web environment?
Second, SSRS 2008 is a much better tool than SSRS 2005. Microsoft basically rewrote SSRS from the ground up. (It does have a bit of a tougher learning curve - certain aspects of the report designer in 2008 take a little while to learn, especially if you've been building reports in SSRS 2005).
Until 2007 I was a Crystal fanatic, but then became more impressed with SSRS. SSRS doesn't have every single bell and whistle that Crystal has, but I think it's generally a better reporting solution for web reporting.
