It's pretty easy to do what you want to with CR.
If you're using typed datasets, it's really just few lines of C# code, but If Kevin is responding, I'll shut up.
Much of what I know on this subject comes a book he co-authored - Pro VS 2005 Reporting.

the data source is sql2005 and the reports are currently monthly but could become weekly.
