Yep. We're going to see Lee this afternoon. Saw him clobber the Rangers a couple of weeks ago. Lee has had some awesome starts - and he's also had some very rough outings. Hopefully as the summer goes on he'll get better.
But we were also there the other night when Oswalt was totally beatable. Historically, Oswalt is better in the 2nd half - but right now I'm a little concerned about him finishing the season.
Though, for the most part, it's not the pitching. It's the inconsistent hitting. If they can ever get to a point where more than one guy is hitting at a time, they'll run away with the division. Yes, it's the offense, which has largely been offensive. Polanco is the only reliable hitter, though I have hopes that Brown will continue to improve. But the nucleus of their lineup (J-Roll, Shane, Chase, Howard, Ibanez) overall is a big concern.
They don't get enough credit for how good they are defensively. That weird strikeout/double-play in the ninth inning last night was awesome, with Chooch making a scoop-throw and Chase making a great tag. That saved the game.
I worry about Atlanta - they have great arms (Jurrjens, Hanson), their bullpen is at least as good (and maybe better) than ours. And I wonder about Madson in a closer role in September, but we'll see...his velocity is down right now.
