Here's a way that would work in your example:
<b>LOCAL lcDBC</b>
USE table SHARED IN 0 ALIAS mytable
<b>SELECT MyTable
lcDBC = CURSORGETPROP("database")</b>
...
...
IF USED("mytable")
   USE IN mytable
ENDIF
<b>set database to &lcDBC
close database</b>
