This might excite all of us a tad.

There is a major retail trading service (stocks, futures, options) called "Trade Station" I think he's the one.

Most surprising is the fact that the patent filing for their web objects includes 3 version of VFP - I knew VFP was bad. This is, dare I say, Satanic (he .. he ..) stuff

Consider this: TS acquires and munges realtime ticks from live market feeds for a large user base. THe info has to be requested, parsed and scaled specific to each desktop in their user base. Fetching and tossing market data (and trend analysis) is just the beginning of what this bad boy do. TS also automates order executions.

I'm telling ya this cause I had pitched a prospect by developing a demo/prototype hat back tested and generated trading models for a so called dynamic "stops" buy / sell orders. After I worked 2 months (for nuthing - well I learned how to build a trading solution that kicked "buy and hold" returns a*s) and delivered the output he called me and had a Microsoft MVP at his office that he hired to drill me on the technology. When the MVP heard I did it in VFP 9 he got all "little man" on me and shilled that old MS "buy Microsoft boiler plate coders in Deli" con with a Balmer shame claim (and a low go moma) that "VFP was not part of Microsoft's strategic strategy" - I blew my wad - like I was prospecting a corn-ball money manager in Tennessee and this know nothing suck a*s MS MVP who couldn't code his hermaphroditic pansy butt out of a we paper bag is reading MS talking points to me!

So I sent a copy of Trade Stations Patent to the prospect - he played like was gonna be charitable - turns out - he was jamming me so he could guide Deli coders he had hired before he even knew me. I burned the candle at both ends so he could have a double check data set (the stuff i did de nada) to whip and intimidate his Microsoft "sub contractors" in India.

Ya see my friend - when some podunk hires through an IBM Oracle or MS Deli - Philippine outsource shop - dey get a farking tax break and so does MS (as a subsidy) - no 1099 FICA - no returns except those to the kiddie fondlers in DC!

They are being bonused through taxes we pay while we scrape what we can.

In 2010 GE booked 26 Billion in profits. GE paid no taxes. GE booked 4 Billion in tax subsidies - Cash from taxes we paid. THe subsidies were for off shoring and green-energy-jokes! GE's CEO Immelt is the Bama's jobs panel. 53% of GE's employess DO NOT work in the US, do not pay US income or fica taxes. That's why we put our shorts on backwards every day - to fatten the to big to fail sorry a*s sacred cows send alter boys and bagmen to the "hill"!

And that is why MS through out everything except DOT NOT! They figure software wasn't about innovation or ideas - it was about free money and a standardized production system. The Deli coders get shunted in and out of work all the time. With one fat slug of a tool - DOT NOT - and a one size fits all approach - (standardized flow and restricted outsource specs) you can reuse and old factory where all you do is put the latest color of lipstick on a pig - wrap it up in techno-geekspeak - and call it engineering!

How many DC and K-Street bagmen did Balmer's ma have to go lo on to make that happen? How many bagmen did redmond send to the hill to get the tax breaks and subsidies to run this scam? Not too many - on employees in congress are old jaded ladies of the night - they can even do a proper job of earning a bribe anymore!

What's the diff tween a PC and a MAC. PC's are designed to use existing legacy (standardized) production processes. IOW - the product is designed to fit the box. Jobs designed the MAC without a "sample box" to fit it to and told his production team to build new boxes!

Them MACs are beautiful - ain't they. There are Java objects that create 64bit DBFs! Java Beans - a beautiful GUI if dere ever was one (course yours truly prefers to do it in code like he always has!:)

BTW: The first stock ticker I ever saw for a browser was built with VFP back in 1999!

The first navstar (i think that is the name) mapping/driving direction with a graphical map synched to GPS was built with - yep VFP 3 or 5 in San Antonio Texas back in 1997!

RANT OFF!

>>>The most important interface in almost all windows apps are the HTTP and XML objects. VFP as always been an internet ready tool - but no >>one told us how to take advantage of that.
>
>It's easy - now you can copy vfp code to many cheap web hosting sites and run it with very little setup just like PHP. Look at activevfp.codeplex.com. Just copy it to GoDaddy or comparable cheap hosting site. Make modifications to the main.prg and html templates and you're off to the races. You don't need to compile and you don't even need to have purchased a copy of vfp!!
