I think the point is that you didn't refer to George Walker Bush each time, or to Ronald Wilson Reagan. By including Obama's middle name in full, Mike infers (and I tend to agree) that you are trying to constantly suggest that he's an Arab or a Muslim, neither of which is true. Given that, to date, there's only been one person with the surname "Obama" in national politics, the last name alone is sufficient to identify him.
