>So, what is a temp variable in SQL? AFAIK there are temp tables and table variables, then you have local variables, but even though I admit am new to SQL server I have never heard of temp variables?
There is no such term in SQL Server as 'temp variables'. All variables in T-SQL are local to the batch that created it.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
