Years ago, when the Fox developer community was still on Compuserve's Foxforum and there was no UT yet, I started a whimsical thing called the Merry Punster Club. When an especially good pun was issued I assigned an MPC number to the poster and actually kept track of them. The number hit 50 and I decided enough already; the whole forum was punning itself to death. Recipients referenced their MPC numbers in their autosigs. It was frivolous but fun. We have maybe lost something in the endless bickering and political warfare, which was sort of an off limits topic back then. (I am certainly not claiming innocence).

The merriest punster of all was Karen Higgins. One time we got going back and forth in an exchange like this one and I finally had to holler uncle. She was just too good at it. I touched base with her a few years ago. She had sold her company, which made SBT accounting add-ons, to SBT for a heck of a lot of money for most individuals, 8 figures, then married an Aussie and moved to Sydney. Good for her.
