Perhaps China is buying out those old Russian aircraft carriers just to show peace-lovers of western hemisphere, how pointless aircraft carriers (all the way in China sea waters) really are! They will use those worn-out ships as demo targets to be destroyed in public by their latest line of anti-carrier missiles... <g>
Since shooting communication satellites down by laser beam is already fair game to them, and considering continued economic boom, perhaps in some near future there will be again some balance in military power between major super-powers.

To bad for all those oppressed nations of the world... Delivering Coca-Cola, Democracy & Human Rights to all corners of the world (while syphoning back oil & other stuff) will become much more difficult task. Not that this will stop western Democracy&HR addicts from always finding new/creative (overt&covert) ways to help those poor and oppressed, (eg. Libya) but that game will sure became much better leveled.
