>>Yeah his argument is that those are legal. Funny because the entire point of my original post was that the fact weed being illegal creates more problems than it solves and this panel wrote a 24 page report on it. I still don't know if he read it cause no comment on the contents of the report.

As for this study - do some more research on HOW the test was done (and since refuted) and perhaps you'll see it's not quite as said in the article.

>I have lived this personally. My oldest son was hooked on MJ from about 13 yo on. He's 35 today and has never held a serious job, most jobs last about 1-3 weeks until he can't do it anymore becuase of the stress of working. Yet he smokes pot constantly and tells me that it has no effect on him. He can't think, can't function, can't hold a job but the MJ has no effect.

Sorry to hear that...but first of all a 13yo shouldn't be smoking pot to begin with. This is a perfect example of why this should be dealt with as a health issue, not a legal one. Do you think he would be any better off if he was put in jail for 10 or 15 years - or if he had some sort of counseling and/or treatment? Maybe if he had some proper drug education at age 11 or 12 none of this would of happened to begin with? Again I really don't think you're addressing my points. Perhaps if it was legal the allure to a 13yo wouldn't exist either.

>He and a friend, while living with me ran out of weed. they asked me if I knew anyone that could get them some. I don't and told them so. They said they'd go to Walmart and find someone. Within about an hour they were back home having located someone to provide them MJ. My question to them is that if MJ has no effect on a person, how'd you pick out the one that could sell it to you? Of course, I got a blank stare and no response.

Ummm...cause most people have tried it and like 60% of college students smoke it regularly? All you need is a group of 2 college students and taadaa!

>So preach on about the non effect of smoking. I can spot a pot-smoker from just the way he talks and acts. I work with several people who wondered how I know they smoke. Its so easy to spot them if they are heavy users like my son, who smokes about every 60-90 mins all day long, not recreational once a month types.

-----Again - I'm not talking about the effects of smoking - I'm talking about the effects of it being illegal.------
