It's a limitation on the max size that can be in a node of the registry. Do you have VB installed? It is a true registry hog! You may need to uninstall earlier versions of Visual Studio to free up space in the registry. Also use a shorter path than \program files\visual studio\..... When I installed VS6 I removed VS5 except for VFP5 and installed it to \prog\vs98\... those few characters of path difference become significant after a while.
