They first built it where it was one lane in each direction. Later they built another bridge so that there would be 2 lanes north bound and 2 lanes south. At the tunnels, the bridges come together and then separate again once out of the tubes. Makes driving a tad bit dicey for the sleepy tourists. Every so often a driver puts their car in the drink. Its a great place to fish. Wall to wall boats on the weekend. Just caught a bunch of these out there the other day. [pic does not show my good side]
