I am surprised the numbers show decreased accident rates with roundabouts. To me they seem much more iffy than our traditional traffic signals. Maybe it's because we are (so far) less familiar with them. You see drivers hesitating (or not hesitating), not knowing what they should do. Then again, I know a lot of accidents here are caused by drivers barreling through red lights.

There is a small town near Madison, Wisconsin, called Mt. Horeb. Up to now it has been known primarily for its Norwegian heritage and the trolls you see all over town. I don't mean internet trolls, I mean actual troll statues. In a restaurant where we ate recently there was even a page on the menu with the specials for kids under 12, titled "For the little trolls." Anyway, you pass through about 10 roundabouts driving through Mt. Horeb. And it's not a big town.
