No, they function very differently. Luckily my first db boss warned me off SET FILTER right away. I've pretty much always used RELATIONS or tricky indices to get around SET FILTER. Those can be sluggish, though, and so someone mention SET KEY. It was a good intermediate step (for me) while I tackle converting my brain and my apps to parameterized views.
>Grids are nice but an awful lot of work and there is no apparent substitute for the key command with browse windows. I wonder why that functionality was not provided? I foolishly thought that the filter command was comparable to the key command.
