I agree with you up to a point. There needs to be a balance. We shouldn't rule out huge areas for any kind of industry to protect the snail darter or the spotted owl. But IMO the pendulum has swung too far. Two of my favorite states, Maine and Wisconsin, elected activist Republican governors last November and both of them are eagerly seeking to dismantle any kind of environmental protection. So are Republicans in the House of Representatives in DC. This borders on criminal given that both states are known for natural beauty and tourism. I know you like the outdoors, elk hunting in Colorado and so forth. Do you want to see oil derricks and strip mining everywhere you go? That's where we're headed if we give free reign to businessmen who don't care about anything but dollars.
