It's so much worse than simply Anwar.

Solar: They tried to shut down solar in the Mojave desert.
Wind: They stop wind farms on Nantuckett Sound
Nuclear: No new US reactor started since 1974
Nat Gas : Fracking pollutes water table.

No less an authority than our current greenie EPA chief Lisa Jackson admitted to Congress that there are no "proven cases where the fracking process itself has affected water.") Fracking uses 99.5% sand & water in the process that takes place thousands of feet below the surface. Average aquifiers are a few hundred. One must ignore the law of gravity to justify the claims yet they persist.

>I think you have to have balance, and the dems tend to think balance is to shut things down - totally. No drilling in Anwar, which is basically frozen tundra. They also said the Alaskan pipeline would devastate wildlife in Alaska. That isn't the case. Wildlife flourishes around the pipeline. The spill in the gulf was supposed to be a problem for decades...well, I've been to Florida and Nawlins since the spill and things are pretty much back to normal. We need to allow our businesses to grow, but we do need reasonable rules and regulations. It appears the devil, is once again in the details. We don't seem to be able to get that balance, because the loony left and the righteous right want it all. It's time to work out a compromise, so that we can drill our own resources. I think it's going to take a Republican majority before that happens though, because the Democrats tend to be guided by the envirnomental groups that are extremists. I consider myself an environmentalist, but not an extremist. I love clean air, clean water and pristine land and I think it can coexist with capitalism.

>>>Good points, but Obama and the dems have gone too far. We need to create a business friendly environment, not one that penalizes success.

>>I agree with you up to a point. There needs to be a balance. We shouldn't rule out huge areas for any kind of industry to protect the snail darter or the spotted owl. But IMO the pendulum has swung too far. Two of my favorite states, Maine and Wisconsin, elected activist Republican governors last November and both of them are eagerly seeking to dismantle any kind of environmental protection. So are Republicans in the House of Representatives in DC. This borders on criminal given that both states are known for natural beauty and tourism. I know you like the outdoors, elk hunting in Colorado and so forth. Do you want to see oil derricks and strip mining everywhere you go? That's where we're headed if we give free reign to businessmen who don't care about anything but dollars.
