I would not go for an ActiveX I would stay with VFP. Craig Boyd has programmed a very fine class http://www.sweetpotatosoftware.com/spsblog/2008/11/25/VisualFoxProGridEnhancements.aspx - read his blog, download and you will be amazed how easy and effective this grid works.
