I've come back to this problem now so a belated thanks for your response.

I'm in the crystal reports UI.

I assume that I use the database expert to alter the sql query I want to use but I can't see how to do that ?

Everything seems to be done visually and not be writing SQL code. Is that the only way to work in Crystal ?
