>>>It's funny. I never thought I'd take to an eBook reader. I love the feel of books, the smell, the way they look on the shelves etc. But, what I don't miss is the stacks of books on every flat surface, double shelved in the bookcases, and especially I don't miss carrying around a tome and trying to read it while having a coffee or standing in line at the supermarket. eBook Readers level the playing field. Every book is the same size regardless of the number of pages.

>I'm afraid I do. It's just that there are so many times when I can't really do anything except stand around or wait around. I don't see it as any different than reading while waiting for my turn with the dentist or the doctor or waiting around for anything else. Reading makes the time go faster, and makes me feel like the time isn't really wasted. I do like to read, and now that I have to drive to work due to the distance instead of riding a bus or a train, I can't read during that time any more, and I kind of miss it, so I try to pick my spots.

You have probably already heard the audio books suggestion. It isn't really for me for some reason and maybe not for you, either. Another thing to consider if you spend that much time commuting is satellite radio. That I like. There are channels for every taste and mood. One channel is dedicated to jazz of the 40s, one to 70s classic rock, one to new alternative rock, on and on and on. And that's just the music. There are also multiple news channels, including the BBC and NPR, talk radio from every point of the spectrum, and live broadcasts of every ballgame in every sport. You should check it out.

My secret vice is conservative talk radio. But only when I'm in a good mood.
