Many BHO detractors love to play the "Messiah" card (or in this case, "magnificence"). I have always seen him as a politician. Sadly, within a certain voting block there is an infatuation with the president's religion which manifests itself into all sorts of conspiracy theories. Dictator, secret Muslim, avowed Marxist, missing/fake birth certificate, Manchurian candidate, "hates white people", etc. Its an easy lunch to serve to the low-hanging-fruit crowd. It's hard to reconcile this "secret marxist muslim" view with liberals who rail that Obama is like Bush.

So the reason for his decades-long religious subterfuge is what exactly?
