www.jaythejoke.comWhy is it called "Jay the Joke"? The content of the article points out, correctly IMO, that his biggest problem is the porous offensive line. Failing to re-sign Kreutz triggered a lot of head scratching among Bears fans. Yes, he is well past his prime, but he was still better than the alternative and there wasn't even much money separating them. According to the Chicago Tribune, they could have signed him on Friday for the same amount of money they gave him as an ultimatum on Saturday. It was reportedly the take-it-or-leave-it nature of Saturday's offer that led him to leave it. By all accounts there was no more than $500,000 separating the two sides. Typical dumb behavior from the Bears front office when dealing for a guy who has been the acknowledged team leader for a long time, long enough to suit up as a Bear only one game less than Walter Payton. I'm not saying kiss the players' fannies but he had earned more respect than that.
On the bright side, the O-line got some help in the draft with first round pick Gabe Carimi of Wisconsin. I saw him play a bunch of college games and think he is going to be great.
Good to see you posting here, BTW.
