Hi Don:

I threw in the towel after thrashing around with Windows-7 64 bit installations and purchased InstallShield 2011 Express ($599, ouch). Previously I was using an older version, InstallShield Dev 9 Professional, which I think is a little later than the version that comes with VFP9, there were all sorts "interesting" errors. Win7 (and I guess Vista also) prefer data files be placed in c:\ProgramData\..., and NOT c:\Program Files. It was becoming a real PITA to write a script to put some files in c:\program files (or wherever the user desired), and other files elsewhere and allowed the user to specify the location in a manner consistent with other dialogs, etc. etc. Call me lazy but I don't want to have to become an InstallShield custom script expert. InstallShield 2011 took care of all that easy as pie ($599 pie that is). Aside removing the difficulty with placing the executable and data in separate locations code signing the installation is simplified (although I think they have had that upgrade around for awhile).

Regards,
Scott

>Well, this time I actually logged in as Administrator. The install did not ask if it was for all users or just the current user. It just proceeded to completion. It did however copy the data files this time, but still did not create the desktop or menu icons. :(

When run under Win7 64 bit it does not create the desktop icons, or the start menu icons, and also does not create the data directory (C:\myfolder). All of this even though it DOES ask for and get the administrator password. Is there a solution to this problem?
