I prefer to create my own C:\MyDataFolder for that. I seem to have solved that with the basic installshield express. My current problem has to do with just the desktop and start menu icons. They work fine in win7/32 but seemingly not in win7/64. $600 is a bit steep for my current project. I may just give it up if I can't find a solution.

I agree about the steep price, InstallShield has always been that way. I didn't have a choice and had to upgrade. However, I downgraded from the Professional version, which would have cost me around $1,900 to the Express version that has all the capability I need.
FWIW, the problem I also was having with the Desktop shortcut and Start Menu icons disappeared when I used InstallShield 2011.
