John Baird

>>I am aware of his biography. I meant Utah politically, i.e. he is Mormon and is popular there for that reason.
>>
>>Huntsman seemed OK to me, for a Republican ;-) But he didn't fit the mood his party is in. It has been completely hijacked by the lunatic fringe who are running around with clubs in their fists.
>>
>>>He grew up in Michigan, lived in Utah a short time. I think he still has a vacation home here. He was governor of Massachusets, where I believe he is a resident. Of the Republican candidates, I prefer Huntsman. He was a fantastic governor. IMO, Romney is the only GOP candidate with a chance to beat Obama.
>>>
>>>>I figured it was Romney you wanted to discuss ;-) No problem. Heck, maybe I'm wrong. Iowa just may not be his state. But it brings to the forefront the question that has loomed over his candidacy, and the one in 2008: what is his state? Other than Utah, of course. He is way too tepid tea for those on the far right, and he isn't going to get any help from Democrats or many independents. He is not an energizer. I'm not saying he is a bad person. It's just hard to foresee a scenario in which he has broad enough appeal to be elected.
>
>Are you really that bigoted? His popularity has to do with his political views, his personal life and his integrity. It's like saying Kennedy was popular in Mass because he was a catholic and Mass and Massachusetts are similar....
Why is what I said bigoted? I'll cop to it when I say something that is over the line but thought what I said about Romney was factual, not emotional or attacking. I honestly don't see him being the nominee of the current GOP.
