>>And then the iPad storm hit: this was market-changing,

Exactly where did it hit?
It seems to have missed all of the state of NJ and most of southeast PA..

I might be living in a coocoon but none of our clients or prospective clients owns an IPad or is thinking of buying one and our clients tend to jump on anything that will improve their operations or bottom lines.
A few have IPhones, but just a few.
Most have simple phones that do mail and voice.

Let's not confuse executive toys and gadgets for bored upper-middle class kids with tools that affect how business is conducted.

Market changer???

From the business perspective:
The fax was a market changer (remember the fax?)
The Apple II was a market changer
The IBM PC was a market changer
Word processing and spreadsheets were market changers
The WW web was a market changer
Email was a market changer
Win 95 was a market changer
Linux was a market changer
SQL Server 2000 and MYSQL were market changers
I agree that .NET isn't close to being on the list. It doesn't change things.. but it makes some things easier to do.

Isn't it premature to put the IPad on that list?

Many of my would-like-to-be-cutting-edge tech colleagues have it and are raving about it, but they're the same ones who told me ten years ago that I couldn't live without that Palm thing.. whatever it was.
Somehow I survived but what happened to that Palm thing?
