>>It's not itunes that will allow malware, it's the web browser...

How? You can be phished via any browser but unless you jailbreak, nothing can be downloaded and run on the iPad unless signed and sourced via iTunes. Even the dreaded Weyland-Yutani Bot coming to iPad is hysteria: that Bot is a Trojan that tricks Mac users into installing malware which simply isn't possible on Ipad. Being firmly tied to Apple's apron strings is a positive attribute in this case.

Here's what McAfee had to say about this last week (iPad untouched by mobile malware attacks): seems the one to worry about is Android. http://www.tipb.com/2011/08/24/iphone-ipad-untouched-mobile-malware-attacks/ .
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
