Maybe this is the modern day "Where were you when Kennedy was shot?" Where were you when you first heard about the attacks, and what happened in your life in the days afterward?
How do you plan to observe the "anniversary," if at all?
I don't want to steer the discussion so will just say for now that I plan to wear one of my favorite T shirts, a red NYFD shirt. There were a lot of heroes but in my book they were the most heroic of all. Office workers were going down the stairwells in shock and the firemen were going up. An unfathomable number of them died that day.
(The part that pisses me off is many of them died needlessly. When the fall of the second tower was clearly imminent the order was issued to get out of there immediately, may day, may day. The policemen, who had newer equipment, got the order and evacuated. Many of the firemen never got it on their crap equipment).
