>>>I am going to disagree with you reasonably, or at least try to. Not about the racism angle. We have been down that road before and it didn't get any of us anywhere. What I disagree about is your opinion that Rick Perry is being caricatured. IMO when someone calls evolution "just a theory" in this day and age it tells me he is either uneducated or pandering shamelessly to the Tea Party and other hard core conservatives. Yes, all politicians from all points on the spectrum pander to some extent. I thought this statement from Perry was major cause for concern, that's all.

>It's funny how people complain about how religion is crammed down their throat... anymore it's just the opposite.

Since you are responding indirectly to something I wrote I will say I don't think religion is crammed down my throat. Not on a national level. Those who try it with me individually don't get very far, although I hear them out politely. On the larger scale, maybe it's a little disturbing that 30% of Americans describe themselves as evangelical.

I'm all for more science and math being crammed down the throats of American students. It's not the be-all and end-all, nor am I saying we should live by science alone. But in the new global world the nations who are more rigorous about technical education, the way we used to be, are eating our lunch.
