It won't seem radically different to you. For its last several releases VFP moved increasingly closer to the ANSI SQL standard. (Which is not really a standard at all, but pretty close to one with some vendor differences). IMO it will only enhance your skill set to learn T-SQL. There are some good books (I like Robert Vieira's) and some good online learning resources. PluralSight.com has some great stuff on a wide variety of languages and technologies for about $30 a month, with the first month or two free. I also subscribe to TekPub for $19 a month. The two of them together cost me less than one hour of billable time. My MSDN subscription works out to about $30 a month. As a professional developer who wants to stay at least somewhat current, these expenses are no-brainers to me.
