So, Microsoft has Metro locked down pretty tight. Metro limits you to a subset of .NET. You can’t automate other applications or reference existing “desktop” DLLs. MS forces you to deploy through their store and takes 30% off the top. This is not characteristic of the Microsoft we have worked with all these years, but they are following Apple’s lead.

I think therein lies the rub. M$ has always tried to imitate Apple, even when Apple was doing it wrong. Now Apple is the new big bad wolf, with their (attempted) lock on everything that goes on their devices, and M$ is just trying to outdo them.
