One of my favorite computer industry quotes was by Clive Sinclair, whose eponymous machine came onto the market around the same time as the original IBM PC. The PC used a 16 chip and the Sinclair used an 8 bit chip. He was asked why he decided to go with an 8 bit processor. "Because I couldn't find a 4 bit processor I liked," he said. (He was English).
