Speaking of grueling events, I saw in the news earlier today that Diana Nyad had to call off her swim from Cuba to Florida. One of the factors was she was stung by rays numerous times in the open water, unprotected by a cage. (Fortunately she had no interaction with another of the hazards, sharks). She swam 67 miles in the ocean, 2/3 of the way. No one has ever done it. I mention only in passing that she is 62 years old. She is a throwback to the adventurers of our collective past, the people who crossed oceans, climbed mountains, went to the north pole. Salud.
